Nicole Brownstein (Transgender and Community Activist) is the President of The Pride Center of New Jersey having taken office in January 2017, the Facilitator and Group Leader for the TrueSelves Support Groups and the Group Leader for the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital / Pride Center of New Jersey Transgender Family Support Groups. Nicole graduated RCA Institutes and Nassau College prior to beginning her 43 year career with IBM. During those years, she advanced from an engineer, to an offering developer, to a managing consultant, to a Certified ISO9000 Lead Auditor, to a manager and finally to a global manager. At her retirement she managed three global teams which consisted of 3 managers and roughly 70 specialists. Upon retiring, Nicole found the time to explore herself more fully and shortly thereafter began transiting full time into her true self. Her transition took 3 years beginning in 2012 and being completed in 2015. Today fully transitioned and legally female, Nicole spends her time volunteering in the transgender community. She takes tremendous joy and delights in helping those who are just beginning their journey to find their way. She currently works with a roster of over 150 transgender men and woman on a monthly basis. Nicole’s recent activity involves building a relationship between Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and the Pride Center of New Jersey. In this endeavor, she strives to use the Pride Center’s, and her own, expertise in building support groups to create a series of transgender support group for Robert Wood Johnson’s newly developing gender clinic. Not being satisfied with helping just the transgender community, she is now creating support groups for the families of transgender individuals. Finally, Nicole has recently joined the Sexual Violence Prevention Coalition in Monmouth County and is scheduled to be trained as a Sexual Violence Counselor in mid 2017.
