Something about the holiday season makes connection feel more important. Perhaps it is the familiar rituals that return each year, the meals shared around crowded tables, or the simple realization that experiences become more memorable when you have people to share them with. Whatever the reason, December has long been a season for gathering.

For gay men, however, finding the right kind of gathering can sometimes be more complicated than finding something to do. A calendar can be filled with events without providing many opportunities to develop genuine friendships. A crowded room can still feel remarkably impersonal. Even in a state as densely populated as New Jersey, meeting other gay men outside of dating-oriented environments can require more intention than many people expect.

Garden State Gay Socials was created with that reality in mind.

On Wednesday, December 9, 2026, Garden State Gay Socials will welcome gay men to the historic Olde Mill Inn in Basking Ridge for its Annual Holiday Pizza, Sweets & Treats Event. From 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, the evening will combine the familiar comforts of pizza, desserts, coffee, games, and holiday conversation with something more lasting: an opportunity to meet people in an environment where friendship can develop naturally.

Guests are not expected to arrive knowing one another. In fact, many men who attend Garden State Gay Socials come alone. You also don't need to approach the evening as a networking exercise or feel pressure to leave with a certain number of new contacts. The purpose is considerably simpler. Come together, enjoy the experience, talk with people, and allow connection to happen at its own pace.
