Research Opportunity
Seeking LGB+ folks who want to share about their romantic relationships!
You are being asked to participate in this research study because you identify as lesbian, gay, or bisexual+ and have/had a history of romantic and sexual relationship(s). The purpose of this research study is to better understand experiences of intimate partner violence (IPV) in the lesbian, gay, and bisexual+ (LGB+) community. Currently, our understanding of IPV and services for those who experience it are heteronormative. You may wish to participate in order to share your experiences with IPV as a queer person.
- In order to be eligible to participate, you must be LGB+, living in the US, and between the ages of 18-65.
- If you agree to participate, we will ask you to complete an online survey through Qualtrics, which will take approximately 10 to 20 minutes.
- There is minimal risk associated with your participation in this study; it is possible that some questions may make you feel uncomfortable. You do not have to answer any questions that make you feel uncomfortable and you can stop participation at any time.
- You will not directly benefit from your participation in this research study. However, you will be contributing to efforts to understand IPV outside of current heteronormative frameworks.
- You will not receive any payment for participating in this research study.
- Any and all information collected during the interview will be kept confidential and only accessible by the researchers. Original data containing your personal information (name and contact details) will not be requested or stored.
Your participation in this research is voluntary. If you have any questions, you can contact Dr. Kendra Doychak, Department of Psychology at John Jay College, at (212) 237-8690 or kdoychak@jjay.cuny.edu. If you have any questions about your rights as a research participant or if you would like to talk to someone other than the researchers, you can contact CUNY Research Compliance Administrator at 646-664-8918 or HRPP@cuny.edu.
